Done, But Not Done

Krista and I worked every day this past week having fun with paint.

We painted chairs and stools

and more chairs cuz we have like, 50 of them!

Need a vanity chair or maybe a spare corner that this chair would like to live in?

It'll make you smile!

I call this my Civil War side table....blue and grey.
I had done one just like it except in reverse colors.

A cobbler bench. We have to stage this but have so  many ideas. in the bathroom for hand towels, soap, q-tibs? for a bar-b-que with napkins, salt & pepper shakers, jars of condiments? in the bedroom for makeup, brushes, jewelry? Ideas?

I may just have to keep it!

ugh! This....

became this! So much prettier!

I have a thing for oval frilly mirrors.

We've sold so many of these frames with wire and teeny tiny clothespins. I'll keep makin' em...you keep buyin' em'!

And this! I'm trying so hard to bring these into one of our shops. It's in the truck right now. But I think it will be in my kitchen soon.  I adore them!

We're on a teal/turquoise kick. It seems like lots of people are because every time we paint something in this color, it sells.

It's cheery and happy and who doesn't want to be cheery and happy?!!

We scored 8 of these fantastic shutters recently and we're having so much fun repurposing them. This would be great in a mud room to hang keys or scarves or in the living room as a magazine rack or as a jewelry holder.

Stay tuned for what we're going to do with this. Fun!

So that's just some of the things we've gotten done this week (and lots more but forgot to take photos). But before we pat ourselves on the backs, we need to take a look in the barn....

 oh my!

where did we GET all this stuff?!

OK, I'm never going to sleep.

We have so much work to do!

Darn that we have so much storage space!

But I really am itching to get to all of this.

Krista's dog, Benny, is exhausted just thinking about all we have to do!

Barn Pickin'

Krista and I went over to our friend's barn the other day to scrounge around. I had asked Steve if he had any barn wood and he said a definite "No." Guess he hadn't looked around in awhile. I said "You have plenty of barn wood!" He replied, "And it's holding up the barn!" It was all I could do to not start pulling off those awesome weathered boards.

This is an old dairy barn that hasn't been used (except for storing old rusty stuff) for 50 years. They built a new modern one back in the 50's for the milk operation.

So now this one has the most beautiful chippy boards. We did talk him out of two rusty iron twin beds and some windows though. Krista was in the little room beyond this window and discovered an entire ceiling of robin's egg blue chippy wainscoting ceiling. My eyebrows went up, a smile appeared and I saw a nice piece hanging down just wanting to be pulled down. It was easy!

So back to the workshop we went. Krista's main business, which her husband started many years ago, is fabricating metal railings so the workshop is fully equipped with all types of machinery. This saw cuts this old barn wood like buttah. We set up in assembly fashion, both of us taking turns at the machinery cuz it's so darn fun.

After marking holes, we drill, drill, drill on the drill press.

Then haul all the pieces over to the pool house (aka Chirp indoor workshop), place the decorative iron hooks on the boards and screw them in.

We sold out of all our other ones, so we just had to make more.

We had a lot of little pieces of barn wood so decided to put some of our
plentiful knobs on them.

Here is that dreamy ceiling wood. Gotta say, I LOVE this stuff!

So, back to the barn we go, this time equipped with a crow bar and hammer.

February Barn Sale

Stylish Patina Barn Sale

this weekend, February 16 & 17, 10-5.
 4051 Stanford Ct., Frederick, MD

Well, Krista and I finally finished setting up for the February Barn Sale today. We wore gloves, hats, scarves and Krista smartly wore her Uggs. It was a damp cold and we were chilly, but we got 'er done. We've gone with a black and white theme this time, which is weird for us because we usually have a punch of candy color. Doin' the neutral.

We finished all the barn wood hangers. Love this one. It should go on my barn.

Krista repurposed this coffee table into a bench. Love! Use it at the end your bed for all those pillows that your husband hates!

This old pub type sign came from the Hot Shoppe on Wisconsin Ave in D.C. It's authentic and awesome. It could be yours for just $150.

Glass decanters - $20 each. I recently put one in my bathroom (not one of these!) for mouthwash. I have to remember not to swallow it.

Love this frame. I painted it white, distressed it and put a photo of my Granny Grace in it. She sure was a cutie.

My gold and white fancy lamp with restructured lampshade. Pretty cool.

If you're looking for a more industrial, manly look, grab one of the oil rubbed bronze beauties with the retro 'Edison' bulbs.

The Frilly Vanity...first offered up in natural wood, then it got a water stain from the barn, so it became white. I actually had every intention of painting it white, so my wish came true. It does look so much better. It's yours for $195.

If you are short on glasses, we have plenty this time. These are our Romanesque liquid containers. They have Romans riding in chariots...how great is that?

I do love the retro and these had to be pried out of my arms. I have a thing for small glasses so if these don't sell, I'll be drinking my wine out of them next week!

Crystal wine goblets

ohhhhh! More retro glasses!

These half tables are so darn handy. They fit right up against your wall! How clever is that?!

OK, this is a steal. A large dresser with a mirror for only $125. It's cute, sweet and practical and inexpensive. What more do you want?! When you get it home you can look in its mirror and tell yourself you are a winner for getting such a deal!

We scored this huge oval mirror a couple weeks ago. It was a gaudy gold, so we toned it down with white and now it's just perfect. Put it in your foyer for a quick glimpse of yourself before going out, making sure you don't have spinach in your teeth.

Subtle natural tones

So come on out and get something black or white that you didn't know you needed.
