Sanding in Sandy & Other Great News!

While 'Sandy' raged through our area, Krista and I were cozy comfy and warm inside her pool house happily priming, sanding, painting and distressing, waxing and rubbing. We watched the rain blow straight down, horizontally and sometimes in circles. The leaves were all aflutter and we just listened to music and became increasingly high with the fumes of paint and wax. Oops, forgot to open a window!

We had furniture in all stages of refinishing, just none of them done. We have over 50 chairs so we concentrated on getting some of the done and outta there.
This awesome retro pair is ready for a new home. Finished in glossy black with a lettered fabric.

And another great black T-back chair adorned with a cushy coffee bag seat.

Gotta love the printed burlap.

We've been looking for a nice coral color, not too pink, not orange and this one seems to pass the 'Michelle test'. Krista's daughter, Michelle, comes out every so often and gives us her expert opinion on color and design. If she says, "I want that!", we know it's a go.
We'll have a cute end table to go with this too.

Our exciting news is that Chirp is expanding to another venue!

Ginger & Spice is an old storefront in Walkersville, Maryland, filled with wonderful vintage furniture and finds. Sherry and Erin are the lucky owners and they do an incredible job of bringing in great vendors (like us! pat, pat) that offer a variety of stuff you need. Really, you need these architectural or painted or industrial or whimsical pieces for your home to make it stand out from the cookie-cutterness of the bland.

The back wall is painted in chalkboard paint and Ashley has done an amazing job of outfitting it with her unusual finds.

The front porch is filled with architural pieces and anything that take the weather, becoming more aged as time goes on.

Inside the shop is cozy and homey and you just want to linger. So, starting November 8, find Chirp at Ginger & Spice, 21 W. Pennsylvania Ave. in Walkersville, Maryland, just off Rt. 196 (from Frederic take Rt. 15 to 26 to 196). Come into the cute village of Walkersville and follow signs for Ginger & Spice. A bit off the beaten track, but well worth the visit. 'Like' them of Facebook for updates and sales and events. They're open Wednesdays through Sundays.
Wish us luck!

It's October, Must Be a Barn Sale!

This weekend I have dueling shows. I'll be hauling my entire Dancing Leaf Farm shop up to Rhinebeck so Krista is selling our furniture at Stylish Patina this weekend.

We have heaps of new stuff. Like these adorable kid's school chairs painted in happy colors.

Here's a closer look. Cute, huh?

Last weekend we spread our furniture out at the Countryside Studio Tour. These chairs started out as the ugliest 70's chairs ever. I regret not taking of photo of them so you'd know what I mean. They were an orangey stain with hideous plaid, scratchy fabric. U.G.L.Y!

Now they're a clean white with cute updated fabric. Why, even the hens like them!

So, back to the barn sale stuff...this is just one of the awesome mid-century modern pieces we scored. Great dresser or changing table if you have a little kiddo. Love those mod handles!

Here's more of the retro vibe black furniture that would go great in your mod condo.

See how awesome this swoopy chair is?

This deco bedroom set is ready to go too.

It's called 'Waterfall' because of the falling curves.

 Nice detailing on the handles.

Love the little nightstand. Looks like a little robot.

I scored a bunch of retro office chairs so I'm bringing them out one by one. This one is perfect for fall with its golden color. And they're comfy beyond belief.

I have acquired about 500 pounds (not kidding!) of lead type. Spell out any words you want.

Milk glass. Milk glass. Milk glass. I LOVE this stuff! I'm going to start Milk Glass Fever so everyone will want some. This is going to be the next hot collectible. Just wait, you'll see.

A vignette of bottles in the autumn sun.

 Burlap...ahhhh!

This little number would be great in a bathroom, kitchen or porch. It's little but has a pull out shelf for when you need that extra space.

....or use it as your typing table.
Come see Chirp at the Stylish Patina Barn Sale, October 19, 20, 21 at 4051 Stanford Ct., near Frederick, MD. 10-5. There are about a dozen vendors there and the booths look fantastic! Heaps of awesome furniture and vintage finds. And you get a beautiful drive in the country in the height of autumn foliage colors. Enjoy!
(and more exciting news is that Chirp is going to be in another location, Ginger & Spice, in Walkersville, Maryland starting November 1. We'd better get busy!

Chirp Found a Home

Things are moving right along on the furniture front. Krista and I cleaned, fixed, sanded, primed, painted, distressed and waxed a heap of furniture. So we had a lot of stock, stuffed away in Krista's barn. We put our feelers out at various places around the area and a space opened up at Stylish Patina, a once monthly barn sale. It coincides with the Chartreuse barn sale in Buckeystown and is not far from  Luckett's. It's only open the third weekend of every month (except for December).

This was our booth when we first saw it.

Then we moved a lot of our furniture and home goods into it and transformed it into a real store.

We sold some big items (phew! cuz it's hard moving them around) and lots of smaller items.

Which is good, because we have plenty more furniture to fill the space.

The weather was beautiful, cool and crisp, perfect for fall.

See that cute white iron table and chairs, recently covered in autumn fabric? Didn't sell, so it's looking really cute at my place. It's till for sale though...$125 for the set.

If you missed the September sale, come on out on October 19, 20, 21. We'll have all new furniture, perfect for your mid-century modern style.
