While 'Sandy' raged through our area, Krista and I were cozy comfy and warm inside her pool house happily priming, sanding, painting and distressing, waxing and rubbing. We watched the rain blow straight down, horizontally and sometimes in circles. The leaves were all aflutter and we just listened to music and became increasingly high with the fumes of paint and wax. Oops, forgot to open a window!
We had furniture in all stages of refinishing, just none of them done. We have over 50 chairs so we concentrated on getting some of the done and outta there.
This awesome retro pair is ready for a new home. Finished in glossy black with a lettered fabric.
And another great black T-back chair adorned with a cushy coffee bag seat.
Gotta love the printed burlap.
We've been looking for a nice coral color, not too pink, not orange and this one seems to pass the 'Michelle test'. Krista's daughter, Michelle, comes out every so often and gives us her expert opinion on color and design. If she says, "I want that!", we know it's a go.
We'll have a cute end table to go with this too.
Our exciting news is that Chirp is expanding to another venue!
Ginger & Spice is an old storefront in Walkersville, Maryland, filled with wonderful vintage furniture and finds. Sherry and Erin are the lucky owners and they do an incredible job of bringing in great vendors (like us! pat, pat) that offer a variety of stuff you need. Really, you need these architectural or painted or industrial or whimsical pieces for your home to make it stand out from the cookie-cutterness of the bland.
The back wall is painted in chalkboard paint and Ashley has done an amazing job of outfitting it with her unusual finds.
The front porch is filled with architural pieces and anything that take the weather, becoming more aged as time goes on.
Inside the shop is cozy and homey and you just want to linger. So, starting November 8, find Chirp at Ginger & Spice, 21 W. Pennsylvania Ave. in Walkersville, Maryland, just off Rt. 196 (from Frederic take Rt. 15 to 26 to 196). Come into the cute village of Walkersville and follow signs for Ginger & Spice. A bit off the beaten track, but well worth the visit. 'Like' them of Facebook for updates and sales and events. They're open Wednesdays through Sundays.
Wish us luck!
